Arvind Kejriwal Will Campaign For BJP in 2019 if Delhi gets full statehood

Delhi Vidhan Sabha accepted the resolution on full statehood to the city on Monday during the last day of the three-day session. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal while slamming the central government said that the capital has been deprived of its basic rights unlike other states, which has affected the development of the city.
Kejriwal in his speech warned the central government to grant the statehood before Lok Sabha elections. “I want to tell BJP that if before 2019 Elections, Delhi is granted statehood. we’ll make sure that each and every vote from Delhi goes in your favour, we’ll campaign for you. If you don’t do so Delhi residents will put up boards saying ‘BJP leave Delhi’,” Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal, who joined the three-day assembly session on Monday attacked LG Anil Baijal and former LG Najeeb Jung for creating hurdles in the way of development of Delhi. “Delhi has been ruled by many rulers including Akbar, Aurangzeb, Bahadur Shah Zafar, Britishers. From 2013-2016, Maharaj Najeeb Jung ruled Delhi and now Maharaj Anil Baijal is ruling the city. We have been elected by the people however, the power lies in the hand of LG appointed by the central government,” said Kejriwal.

In a passionate address, he said Mahatma Gandhi had launched Quit India campaign during the British rule, and the Aam Aadmi Party will run ‘L-G, Delhi Chodo’ campaign.

He said that in 1947, India got freedom and all British viceroys were removed, but in Delhi, L-G was appointed in place of viceroys.

Elaborating on the campaign, senior AAP leader Gopal Rai said AAP leaders, MLAs and workers will hold meetings at 300 locations in the national capital from June 17 to June 24 in the first phase of the agitation.

Delhi CM promised that if Delhi gets statehood then every family will get one home, people will have jobs. “We have sent 3-4 proposals to develop colleges however, the proposal never saw the light of the day. If Delhi gets statehood, we will develop at least 100 colleges within five years,” added Kejriwal.

Reaction of Opposition

The opposition parties, including Congress and BJP, have alleged that it is tactics by the AAP to divert people’s attention since the government has been failed to provide a better governance to the people of Delhi. The BJP has also alleged that AAP is in talks with Congress over an alliance for 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
