Incidentally, on August 4, the GST council decided that people making bank transfers using BHIM app would get 20% cash back. Interim Finance Minister Piyush Goyal said that the scheme was being launched on a pilot basis so that people in rural India who are using the app would get benefitted as they can get a cashback of up to Rs 100.
Although the number of users increased after the offer was announced, people have been complaining that they have not received the cashback promised to them.
As per the terms and conditions of the offer, all the cashback are to be credited to an individual user’s account by 10th of each month. In order to encourage more people to make digitised payments, NCPI introduced a new offer called #BHIMse that promised users a sure cashback of Rs 51 on their first transaction.
They also said that a customer could even get a cashback up to Rs 750. Merchants would get Rs 1,000 every month. A regular user would get Rs 25 as cashback every time he/she makes a unique transaction, with a minimum value of Rs 100, and a maximum value of Rs 500. On July 17, BHIM clarified that the cashback offer only stands for the new users.
Several users took to Twitter to explain their anger. They said that their promised cashback was not credited and while trying to lodge a complaint or even trying to talk to anyone, they were getting the same automated reply. Someone even raised the concern that if one person is not getting Rs 100, then it can mean a lot of money if looked at from a macroscopic perspective.
One S. Raja Babu said, “I have been using BHIM and never got a cash back. On Tez, Paytm, it gets credited quickly. They do not seem to reply to complaints either and seem to be misleading people,” as reported by Deccan Chronicle.
