As the fans were super-excited with the ‘Dostana’ sequel reports that were doing rounds on the social media, filmmaker Karan Johar took to his social media and rubbished all the rumors. According to the reports, ‘Dostana 2’ will feature Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra in the lead roles and is expected to go on floors by early next year. A source said, “”Karan Johar always wanted to make Dostana 2, especially after the first film worked so well. Now finally he has a script for the film, which of course will speed up production. As for the cast, Karan has finalised both Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, and is currently looking out for the third lead role that will again be a male lead.”
KJo cleared all the rumors and wrote, “Hello!!! All news circulating about DOSTANA 2 is untrue!!! Lots of speculation which is entirely baseless!!!” Reports were also rife that the sequel will again be directed by Tarun Mansukhani, who had made his debut as a filmmaker with’ Dostana’ in 2008.
The first installment, ‘Dostana’ featured Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles. It is based on the story where two men pretend to be a gay couple in order to secure an apartment with a girl. Both fall in love with the same girl and strive to win her heart, only to realize that she loves someone else. This film was probably the first Bollywood film that addressed the taboo topic of homosexuality.
