Going via air is set to get costlier for pamphlets in India as the Ministry of Civil Aviation has chosen to raise the Aviation Security Fee (ASF) from Rs 130 to Rs 150 for Indian travelers from 1 July onwards, as indicated by an official record.
RS 20 HIKE FOR INDIAN PASSENGERS, $1.6 HIKE FOR INTERNATIONAL FLYERS
For global travelers, the ASF will be expanded from 3.25 USD to 4.85 USD from one month from now, the report expressed.
“The ASF for local travelers will be demanded at the rate of Rs 150 for every setting out traveler,” said a Ministry of Civil Aviation request dated 7 June 2019.
“The ASF for global travelers will be demanded at the rate of USD 4.85 or identical Indian rupees per setting out traveler,” the request included.
ASF WILL REPLACE PSF (SC)
The ASF will supplant the PSF (SC), which stands of Passenger Service Fee (Security Component).
“The above rates of the ASF will be material with impact from 00.01 Hrs of 01.07.2019 and will supplant the PSF (SC) which was being charged so far at the rate of Rs 130 for every setting out traveler for tickets issued against Indian Rupees and USD 3.25 per leaving traveler for tickets issued against remote cash,” the request expressed.
WHY THE HIKE
As indicated by a PTI report of March, over Rs 600 crore was because of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for guarding airplane terminals. The CISF protects 61 air terminals the nation over.
While the expense of giving security has been expanded, the duty gathered from travelers isn’t adequate to meet the setback since the traveler administration charge has stayed unaltered since 2001.
