Rajasthan’s Kota creates Guinness World record on International Yoga Day

JAIPUR: Kota is known as coaching hub for competitive exams but it will hog the limelight for its efforts to set a world record for largest number of people performing

yoga at one place at the same on International Yoga Day(June 21).On the occasion, chief minister Vasundhara Raje and yoga guru Baba Ramdev will lead people in performing yoga at RAC ground.

Raje, along with her ministers and party MLAs of nearby constituencies, are camping in the city and keeping a close eye on preparations. Baba Ramdev has already arrived in the city. For past two days, he has been training people on yoga at RAC Ground.

Around 1.05 lakh (still counting) people performed Yoga together in Kota to create a Guinness World Record on the fourth edition of International Yoga Day on Thursday.While the record was created at 1.05 lakh and the counting of participants was still going on as it was estimated that nearly 2 lakh people were present for the mass yoga camp. The numbers were counted through set standard and drone cameras. A total of 4, 500 inspectors were deputed to keep a close eye over the Yoga performance
The previous record was that of 55, 524 people performing yoga in Mysore in 2017.

Executive officers in India on behalf of the Guinness Book of World Record — Swapneel and Ribika from London — presented the certificate of world record to Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Ramdev.

While addressing the media, the yoga guru said, “A certificate has already been issued to us for making a record of more than 1.05 lakh people performing yoga together.
