More than a million Indians were involved and some 74,000 died.
Prince Harry’s remarks came as he made his annual visit to the Field of Remembrance outside Westminster Abbey.
As he passed a plot marking the Indian troops who served in the war, the duke was given a small marigold bloom by Suraj Samant, 23, a youth representative on the Hindu Council UK .
