Arnab Goswami apologises for ‘donkey’s child’ attack

Republic TV’s Arnab Goswami is known for giving grief to his panelists, particularly those who don’t agree with him during his show. However, viewers of his show on Republic Bharat were witnessed to a remarkable change in Goswami as he apologised for something that he wasn’t even guilty of.

Goswami was conducting a debate on BSP supremo Mayawati’s controversial comments wooing Muslims to vote for the grand alliance candidates. Billed as ‘Hindu Vote Sampradaayik? (Are Hindu votes communal?),’ Goswami was joined by motormouth guests from both side of the spectrum.

As expected, the show in Hindi soon spiralled out of control as two Muslim guests launched an abusive tirade against each other. This was after a Muslim guest, who found nothing wrong in Mayawati’s statement, sought to support his his argument by using a popular Hindi proverb. He said, “If Algu Chaudhary acts as a secular by night but becomes religious in the morning, then no question is asked. But if Jumman Sheikh is born as secular and dies as secular too, then…”

It was here when a Muslim panelist from the RSS made fun of him by asking if he belonged to the tukde tukde gang from the JNU. Irked by the slur from the RSS’s Muslim man, the panelist lost his cool and asked him to shut up in a disparaging manner. He told the man from the RSS, “Listen to me you child of a donkey.”

No sooner did he use the term ‘donkey’s child’ jibe for the Muslim representative of the RSS, all hell broke loose as the TV studio turned into a wrestling ring. Unable to contain eaither of his two guests, Goswami announced a public apology as he said, “Whatever happens, my sincere request is that no one should call others ‘donkey’s child.” When the BJP’s Gaurav Bhatia reminded Goswami that the ‘donkey’s child’ jibe for the RSS man was not acceptable, Goswami said, “I take it back, I regret.” He added, “This is my show and I am asking for forgiveness.”

The last time Goswami and his channel were seen issuing a public apology when Republic TV aired visuals of three Holiest sites of Muslims and linked them to the terror factory of Jaish chief Masood Azhar.
