Swapnil Kusale wins bronze in the 50m 3 Positions at Paris 2024 Olympics

Swapnil Kusale won a bronze medal in the 50m 3 Positions at the Paris Olympics, making history as India’s first medalist in this event. This also marks the first time India has secured three medals in a single sport at one Olympic Games.

China’s Liu Yukun, the world record holder, won gold, while Ukraine’s Serhiy Kulish took silver.

Swapnil Kusale Performance Breakdown:

Kneeling Position : Swapnil  Kusale began with a 9.6, and in his next 14 shots, only one was below 10 (a 9.9). He finished this round in sixth place.
Prone Position : Starting with a strong 10.5, Kusale remained in the 10s throughout his 15 shots, climbing to fifth place.
Standing Position : After a shaky start with a 9.5, Kusale recovered with a 10.7 and stayed in the 10s, moving up to fourth place. He was just 0.1 points behind third place and 0.3 points behind second.

 Key Moments :

Final Series in Standing : Kusale’s 10.6 shot initially pushed him to second place, but a 9.1 shot brought him back to third. He was 1.1 points ahead of Jon-Hermann Hegg and 0.6 points behind Liu Yukun.
Elimination Rounds : With a 10.5 shot, Kusale extended his lead over Hegg to 1.8 points. Despite a 9.4 shot, Hegg’s 9.9 led to his elimination.
Securing the Medal : Kusale’s 9.9 shot was enough to eliminate Jiri Privratsky of Czechia, ensuring a top-three finish.
Final Shot : A 10.0 shot compared to Kulish’s 9.9 secured Kusale’s bronze medal, finishing 0.6 points behind the silver medalist.

This achievement adds to India’s remarkable performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
