BJP senior leader and Union Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman today slammed Congress President Rahul Gandhi for spreading falsehood regarding today’s Supreme Court’s order on Rafale and said that it amounts to contempt of Supreme Court.
Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman told media persons that whatever Rahul Gandhi tweeted and said was never said by the apex court. The senior BJPleader said that everyone knows that Rahul Gandhi does not read even half a paragraph. He conveys things which are told to him, she pointed out. Rahul Gandhi has shown his frustration in this matter, she said.
While talking about today’s court orders she said that court has only said that they will go by those papers also while hearing review petition. The review petition is waiting to be heard and we stillmaintain that these are stolen papers, she pointed out. Our objection was that these are stolen papers. The Hon’ble Court has said they’ll consider the papers. There is no final order as to the review itself only the preliminary objection has not been accepted. The earlier order of December 14th, 2018 adjudicating non-requirement of investigation into the Rafale deal continues to hold. This is what has happened.
While explaining today’s events she said that Congress President Rahul Gandhi reacting to the court order has said that Supreme Court has said that “Chowkidar ne chorikihai” and also that “Supreme Court ne maanliyaki Modi ne Anil Ambaniko Rs. 30,000 crorediyahai.” Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman said that these are exact words what he said. Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman said that everyone has seen what the Hon’ble court has said and added Rahul Gandhi has misled the nation in this matter.
Coming down heavily on those who chose to publish illegally procured papers from ministry ,she saidthat half a document was published in a newspaper, and later another media house publishedthe full page. “You publish top half and leave lower half as it suits you.” the BJP leader remarked.
Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman said that there was a verdict given by the Supreme Court in December, 2018 about purchase of Rafale aircrafts. Some people approached the court to review the judgement. Then somemedia houses selectively published papers obtained illegally from the ministry. Supreme Court today said that they will go by those papers also while reviewing the petition. She cleared that today’s judgement was pertaining to only these documents procured illegally.
Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman said that CAG has already said that Rafale aircrafts are cheaper by 2.68%. It has seen all the documents andthe Hon’ble court has been given every document required. She asserted that this not a setback for the govt.
Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman also asserted that Rafale jet planes are coming in Sept. 2019 as per agreement.
