Delhi Police Special Cell arrested 2 people for attack on anti national activist Umar Khalid
Delhi Police Special Cell has detained 2 people in connection with the attack on Jawaharlal Nehru University student Umar Khalid outside Delhi’s Constitution Club on Aug 13. Earlier, a video had gone viral on Facebook in which the duo – Darvesh Shahpur and Naveen Dalal – had claimed responsibility for the attack. According to the Police, the two men were picked up from Haryana on Sunday and are being questioned.
The duo had said that they would surrender in a village in Punjab but they did not turn up on Friday. A team of Delhi Police’s Special Cell had visited the village of Sikh revolutionary Kartar Singh Sarabha where Darwesh Shahpur and Naveen Dalal had said they would surrender.
In a video uploaded on social media, the duo claimed that the attack was an “Independence Day gift” to the nation and appealed to the police not to “trouble” others for the attack.
