Alia Bhatt’s sister Shaheen is writing a book on depression
Rarely do you see celebrities or star kids openly talk about issues they are facing in life.
Over the years, Bollywood has become a lot more welcoming to discussing mental health issues. While Deepika Padukone was one of the firsts to come out with her story, Alia Bhatt’s sister Shaheen had also shared her ordeal with depression in a social media post.
Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan’s elder daughter wrote a post on social media, talking about what she went through — what the root cause of her depression was and how she dealt with it. Now, mommy Soni confirms that Shaheen has started writing a book on the subject.
Her mother Soni Razdan, in fact, reportedly confirmed the news that a book is indeed in the works where her daughter will recount her experience that is aimed at people to accept their mental condition and not be ashamed about it. Soni also apparently added that her daughter is brave to discuss this issue on a public platform and that she, husband Mahesh Bhatt and Alia stand with her. The yet untitled book is expected to come out in a few months’ time.
Shaheen in her aforementioned post had said she’s neither ‘ashamed’ about her situation nor does she “take any pains to hide.” She wrote: “I have days where I feel good and then I have days where I don’t. One minute everything’s fine and the next it’s like someone turned the light off inside my head. I go quiet and it’s difficult to get out of bed. Like it always does the world around me loses focus and I struggle to make sense of it. Sometimes these bouts last an hour – sometimes they last days.”
